Outapi youth expo aims to empower
Inspired by the youth
Omusati governor Erginus Endjala has welcomed the initiative, praising the region's youth for setting an example and driving positive change.
Outapi Youth SME Expo organiser January Ivula says next month’s exhibition aims to empower young people to enhance their entrepreneurial skills and showcase their products and services.
Ivula made the remark Wednesday during the media launch of the Outapi Youth Small and Medium Enterprises (SME) Expo, slated to take place 2 to 6 October at the Olufuko Expo Centre.
To date, more than 110 stalls have been booked, Ivula said.
Ivula said around 100 of the stalls were provided for free to young people who applied for them, thanks to Izzy Cranes, the main sponsor of the event, as well as the youth ministry.
“The main aim is to invite all youth to come exhibit, come see us, and also network around their businesses,” Ivula explained.
“The Outapi Youth SME Expo is one of the first of its kind and we have received support from business people like the ministry of youth and sport, the ministry of trade, and the Omusati Governor's Office," he noted.
He said there are still available exhibition stalls for anyone interested in showcasing their services and wares.
Youthful enterprise
Ivula said the official opening will kick off on 2 October and a choir competition is scheduled for 3 October, followed by an SME Youth Expo pageant on 4 October and a music bash the following day.
In a speech read on behalf of Omusati governor Erginus Endjala, the governor welcomed the initiative, saying it is a testament to the youth in the region's determination to address issues affecting society.
“I would like to commend the youth for an initiative that embodies the spirit of innovation, resilience and collective growth,” Endjala said.
“The launch of this expo is a testament to the energy and determination of our youth. The initiative to organise this kind of expo underscores your commitment to creating opportunities, fostering entrepreneurial skills and contributing to the economic development of our region," the governor said.
“You are setting an inspiring example of how creativity, ambition and collaboration can drive positive change.”
