QKR Namibia Navachab Gold Mine road safety campaign launched
QKR Namibia Navachab Gold Mine launched its festive season road safety initiative on Sunday.
Key stakeholders, including the Namibian police and public and private emergency service representatives, attended the event, which included an accident scene simulation in Karibib.
Anthony Moller, the security and emergency services manager at Navachab Mine, warned drivers that irresponsible behaviour and disregarding road safety regulations have serious consequences.
"Stop it! Aside from causing pain to families left behind by your actions and additional strain on survivors, your irresponsible actions have consequences for you. You can be arrested, you can be prosecuted through a competent court of law, and when found guilty, you can be fined or even imprisoned. With that, your reputation will take a knock. You will have a criminal record, and finding employment may be harder in an already tough economy. Make the right choice and stop it."
The mine also handed over 100 reflective vests to the Motor Vehicle Accident (MVA) Fund for the national road safety campaign.
