Operations resume at Lüderitz airport
News in short
Operations resumed at the Lüderitz airport last week following mechanical issues with a fire truck.
The truck could not be utilised on Wednesday, which resulted in a flight cancellation by local air operator, FlyNamibia, and the temporary banning of flights for fixed-wing aircraft and helicopters.
The Namibia Airports Company (NAC) issued a notice announcing the resumption of flights at the airport.
“Thanks to our collaboration with various stakeholders, operations resumed on 12 January, encompassing operations for both fixed-wing aircraft and helicopters,” it said.
According to the NAC, safety is its top priority.
“We apologise to all affected parties for the halt in operations, which was necessary to prioritise safety.”
