The Namibia Tourism Board (NTB) is taking significant steps to enhance its presence in two of the world’s largest travel markets: the United States and China. Through a series of targeted roadshows and strategic engagements, NTB aims to boost tourism and elevate the Namibia brand on the global stage.
As part of this ambitious initiative, NTB will host its 'Networking with Namibia' B2B & PR Engagement Reception during the World Travel Exhibition (WTE) in Miami in 2024.
This prestigious international travel and tourism expo, hosted by Miami International Airport (MIA), serves as an excellent platform for companies to forge valuable business connections and explore unique travel destinations.
WTE Miami 2024 will gather leaders from airlines, tourism boards, hotels and other travel-related entities, offering unparalleled networking opportunities to cultivate high-value relationships.
Engaging with the US
In collaboration with seven private-sector partners (SES Travel Agency, People’s Tours Safari, Lark Journeys Namibia, Gondwana Collection Namibia, Sandwich Dunes Tours and Car Rentals, Empire Tours and Safaris and Nali Safaris), NTB will actively participate in this key event from 21 to 23 October.
Under the theme 'Networking with Namibia', the objective is to connect with leading travel experts and highlight the country’s rich array of travel offerings.
In addition to B2B meetings, NTB will host a special cocktail event themed 'Networking with Namibia', inviting buyers to explore the Namibian experience and allowing local trade representatives to engage directly with potential US buyers in a dynamic setting.
This event aims to provide valuable insights, combining supplier information and key media opportunities to equip attendees with the tools they need to promote Namibia. Co-exhibitors are encouraged to deliver five-minute presentations showcasing their products to the US trade.
Targeting China
Furthermore, NTB will participate in a three-city roadshow from 28 October to 1 November, an extensive marketing push in China, targeting key cities including Beijing, Chengdu and Shanghai. Collaborating with Namibian travel trade partners, this initiative aims to tap into China’s rapidly expanding outbound tourism market, which is projected to reach 130 million travellers by 2024.
By engaging with Chinese tour operators, media outlets and leading travel agencies, NTB seeks to attract Chinese travellers who are in search of unique, off-the-beaten-path experiences in Namibia. With the burgeoning middle class and increasing interest in adventure and cultural tourism, the Chinese market represents a significant opportunity for Namibia. Face-to-face meetings with Chinese tour operators will allow Namibian trade partners to showcase the nation's distinct offerings and establish long-lasting partnerships, ultimately contributing to continued tourism growth.
