JustIn: Only new ID needed for Botswana
Pres. Hage Geingob and his Botswana peer, Mokgweetsi Masisi, on Friday at the Buitepos border post officially launched the new system whereby Namibians only need their new identity document to enter the neighbouring country.
Geingob said the new system is meant to ease travelling between the two countries. It should also serve as an example for the rest of Africa regarding simpler procedures for travel and trade.
Minors will still have to use passports. New ID documents for permanent residents will also not be accepted.
