Taxidermy’s 360 degrees approach to trophy hunting

First Class Trophy which is also represented in Namibia is a company that offers an all inclusive concept to trophy hunters.

According to the company which is based in Denmark and its Namibian manager Stefan Prinsloo they handle the entire process for a trophy hunter from the moment the animal was hunted up until it has been mounted.

Prinsloo said that this inclusive package includes getting the animal from a hunting farm up until delivering the finished product to the hunter.

He said that they therefore think of it as a 360 degrees to the trophy hunting process.

He added that within a few months they are planning to open the Ongombo Trophy Dip and Pack Service on the farm where they are currently living to make the process even smoother.

He stressed that what should be understood is that under First Class Trophy in Namibia they send the raw trophy to Europe where there are then specialised taxidermists for categories such as cats which will finalise the trophy and it will be sent to the hunter.

According to Prinsloo the process in Namibia can take up to six months sometimes and includes the cleaning of the head and refinement of the hide while all paperwork also needs to be in order.

Prinsloo explained that the company is very big on the concept that gives the hunter the benefit of knowing the exact costs of taxidermy work and transport before leaving the country.

Therefore delivery of the finished trophy mounts are done directly to the hunter’s doorstep; the taxidermy process can also be monitored step-by step on their Track and Trace system.

He added that another product that they offer to the hunter is Wild Touch. In this case when a hunter does not make use of the entire hide they can choose to make use of the rest of it to for instance make a handbag.

Prinsloo said that this is exclusively for the hunter to make use of and the hide is not offered to anyone else as it was their “special experience.”
