ICT summit to spotlight AI

"This [digital transformation and artificial intelligence (AI)] is especially necessary as more international companies look to Namibia for business, particularly in the oil and gas sector. They will all be technology-driven, and Namibia is determined to be at the forefront of delivering the latest in information technology, including artificial intelligence."

This according to a statement issued by the managing director of Green Enterprise Solutions, Kehad Snydewel, ahead of the eighth national Information and Communication Technology summit set to take place in Windhoek from 9 to 11 September.

Digital transformation and artificial intelligence AI will be the main focus of this year's conference, with the theme 'Building resilience to adapt or die in the era of digital transformation and artificial intelligence.'

"As the theme suggests, we will not be competitive and fall far behind if we do not build resilience or adapt," Snydewel said.

The Namibian government announced in May that it would host the eighth edition of the conference in September.

The seventh ICT summit took place last October under the theme 'Reconsidering cyber security investment to secure the digital economy and its opportunities.'

Utilise AI tech

One of the questions that will be discussed at the summit will be: "Will artificial intelligence be an opportunity or a threat to businesses and job opportunities, or will it enable organisations to grow if used correctly?"

Green is a leading provider of ICT and has served as a sponsor since the inception of the conference.

"The company is unwavering in its commitment to promoting Namibia's ICT sector," it emphasised in the statement.

Green will offer sessions for conference attendees to delve deeper into AI and how to leverage it.

"This will enable participants to connect with industry experts, gain valuable insights and learn how to leverage AI in their businesses."

The statement further emphasised the importance of developing ICT in Namibia and, especially, the importance of companies utilising digital transformation and artificial intelligence.
