Creating strong players one game at a time

The Capricorn Group schools netball league, which kicked off in May, held its second leg successfully this past weekend.
On the first day, games were held at Trustco United field in Windhoek's Olympia suburb, and on day two, Windhoek Gymnasium High School hosted the primary school players while Windhoek High School was the place to be for the high school matches.
Chairperson Liezel Garbers said the league has been running smoothly so far.
“We are excited to kick off with the league for the first time since 2019 due to the impact of Covid-19 on all contact sports."
This netball league includes a total of 15 schools and 46 teams, ranging from under-12s to under-19s contending for top honours.
An approximate total of 460 players hailed from all over Namibia.
Schools from towns across the country took part in the league, including Edugate Academy, A Shipena Secondary School, Pionierspark Primary School, Ella Du Plessis Secondary School and Okahandja Secondary School, amongst others.
All the teams played with heart and enjoyed their time.
Katherine Topnaar, captain of the Windhoek High School under-17 A team, said they enjoyed the game but lost to Edugate due to simple mistakes, but added that they would bring flames next time.
"Capricorn Group remains committed to creating sustainable opportunities in the regions and communities within which we operate, hence our support to the young future female leaders," the company said.
