Project generates N$1.2 million
The Project Never Walk Alone initiative will hand out shoes in the Kunene Region after a successful boxing event generated money for those in need.

WINDHOEK
The undisputed catchweight boxing event between kwaito artist King Tee Dee and MTC’s chief of human capital and corporate affairs Tim Ekandjo generated over N$1.2 million, organisers announced.
The match, which was held under Project Never Walk Alone, saw King Tee Dee defeating Ekandjo by a unanimous decision in the exhibition bout.
“The event generated a whopping N$1 272 542 from the ticket sales,” organisers said in a statement.
It also saw four national titles and performances from local and international artists.
“The project’s next handover is scheduled for the Kunene Region in November, with a total of 1 273 pairs of shoes that will cover the entire Outjo circuit - Outjo, Kamanjab, Khorixas, Fransfontein, Sorris Sorris, Bersig, Anker, Grootberg, St Michael, Queen Sofia, Serinkop and Otjikondo.” Good governance
The organisers and founder Ekandjo expressed gratitude to those who made the event possible.
Project Never Walk Alone is a non-profit initiative, with charging no fees and all funds going towards the buying of shoes.
The project has a dedicated bank account with Standard Bank titled ‘Never Walk Alone’, and on an annual basis, this account and the project’s activities will be audited, the organisers said. These reports will be shared with sponsors in the interest of good governance and transparency.
Ekandjo committed to making the very first contribution of N$100 000, which was aimed at buying at least 292 pairs of shoes to kickstart the project on a positive note.
“The Project Never Walk Alone team is sincerely grateful for the support and encourages all Namibians to partake in the SMS competition that will see one winner and his/her partner win prize money to attend the Arsenal versus Manchester United game live at Emirates Stadium in London on 21 January 2022,” organisers noted.
