MTC Salute Academy’s Nathanael Kakololo is confident of victory over Tanzania’s Kasimu Hamad Haji on 21 May at the Paresis Park in Otjiwarongo. The two boxers will square off in a vacant WBA Pan-African featherweight title bout over 12 rounds.

It is all for the taking as the winner of the fight will become a new champion while a loser will rue a missed opportunity. Kakololo has his sights set on claiming the victory even though he knows how good Haji is.

“I know Haji is a good boxer and if he comes prepared I will give him a good fight, but if he comes unprepared it might be a short night for him. I do not have much to say but I am inviting the people of Otjiwarongo and surrounding areas to come in their numbers. It will be a great fight because I am well prepared and always ready to fight,” Kakololo said.

The Namibian has fought 16 times and has recorded 13 wins, one draw and three losses in his professional career.

He comes up against a boxer who has fought 18 times with a record of 11 wins, two draws and five losses.

Kakololo last fought in 2021 against Romeo Makwakwa. He won the fight by unanimous decision.

The Tanzanian last fought in January 2022, when he defeated Boniface Massawe by technical knockout.

Shivute welcomes stable

Mayor of Otjiwarongo Gotlieb Shivute says the town is ready to host the bonanza and invites businesses to support the event.

“Otjiwarongo is ready to host this competition because we had a brainstorming meeting yesterday regarding this event.

The team will also travel to Otjiwarongo to see what is really needed to be in place.

“My father loves boxing and that is why I dedicate this one to him, given that he always stays awake when local fights are taking place. The people of Otjiwarongo must come in their numbers to support the event,” Shivute said.

The bonanza will see six undercards which include the likes of Fillemon Nghutenanye taking on Jafet Amukwa for a vacant flyweight Pan-African title over 12 rounds.

Lazarus Namalambo and Gabriel Jamba’s 10-round fight will be one of the main undercards on the night.

Lukas Ndafoluma will be back in the ring after a disappointing run of results as he faces Simon Shafodino in his redemption fight over six rounds.

Benard Benard takes on Jonas Shikukutu over four rounds in a flyweight division, while Lazarus Shaningwa takes on Dominikus Edmund in a super featherweight bout.

Alfeus Shilongo and Sakaria Kleopas will trade leather in a super middleweight bout over four rounds.

General tickets are selling for N$50, while N$100 gets the fans closer to ringside. Those under the age of 18 pay N$20 for a ticket, and a table for 10 costs N$10 000.

Award-winning Namibian artist Tate Buti will perform at Paresis on the day of the fight.

MTC’s John Ekongo is inviting other corporates in Namibia to join them in making the dreams of boxers a reality.

He says MTC’s sponsorship alone is not enough to support the boxing stables in the country.

Ekongo urges corporates and the business community in the town of Otjiwarongo to support the upcoming event.
