1400 points secures South Africa's victory at ITF/CAT Southern Africa junior under 14 & 16 championship
South Africa emerged victorious at the ITF Junior Africa Team Championships, held in Windhoek from 11 to 18 January. Zimbabwe secured second place, while Namibia came third.
Namibian star Mari van Schalkwyk delivered an impressive performance on home soil, advancing to the singles semi-finals and finishing third overall in the competition.
South Africa’s dominance was evident across all age groups and categories, with the team accumulating 1,400 points to secure the top spot in the final nations' ranking.
The winners will proceed to the ITF/CAT African Championship, with finalists earning a coveted spot at the ITF World Junior Finals in Prostejov, Czechia. The International Tennis Federation (ITF) has announced that the 2025 Finals will take place from 4 to 9 August, while the 2026 Finals are set for 3 to 8 August.
