More than 200 gymnasts compete

More than 200 gymnasts competed in the two-day Rhythmic Gymnastics National Championships, which took place at the Jan Wilken Indoor Complex in Walvis Bay.This was the final competition for the year, where the gymnasts represented seven clubs: Walvis Bay Gymnastics Club (host), Infinity Rhythmic Gymnastics Club, Oceanview Rhythmic Gymnastics Club, Elite Rhythmic Gymnastics Club, International School of Walvis Bay, Parkies, and Windhoek Rhythmic Gymnastics Club.
Since this is the final competition of the year, the best overall gymnasts were also awarded:Level 1 - Nina-Marie Nel
Level 2 – Mila Kruger
Level 3 – Raylene Raynard
Level 4 - Kayla Duchaine
Level 5 – Faiza Hamutenya
Level 6 – Alisa Bogomolova
Level 7 – Christina Theron
Level 8 – Natangwe Hanbeka
Level 9 – Lia Kafuna
High Performance 2 – Maggie Shiweda
High Performance 3 – Jessica Shituna
Pre-Junior: Danelle Pesch
Junior: Joy-Lana Kabooy
Senior: Emilia Kandjala
Additionally, four gymnasts were selected to participate in the Happy Cup, which is set to take place in Belgium on 8 November.
The gymnasts are Peya Kashaka, Joy-Lana Kabooy, Kenandjo Mupeia and Emilia Ekandjo.
Sharifa Fernandes, president of the Namibia Gymnastics Federation (NGF), on behalf of the entire executive, expressed the federation’s gratitude and appreciation to everyone who was involved in making the final competition of the year a success.
“We had over 200 rhythmic gymnasts from across the country compete for national titles. We have come together as one and stand united for the growth of our sport. In recent times of adversity, we have become stronger and even more determined to focus on the spirit of sportsmanship.”
