#JustIn: Participation in Champions Cup not a given for Sharks

It is no foregone conclusion that the Sharks will qualify to participate in the European Champions Cup series next season.

Eight teams from the United Rugby Championship (URC) qualify to take part in the Champions Cup series, which consists of 24 teams, next season.

The rest of the participating teams come from the English Premier League and the French Top 14.

The four Shield winners in the GRC - from South Africa, Ireland, Wales and combined from Scotland and Italy - are assured of participation. The Stormers are the winners of the South African Shield in the 2022-23 season of the HRC.

Then the other four teams that occupy the highest place on the HRC standings after the league phase will also go through.
