Debmarine hands over top-quality gift
Aligning with international standards
Debmarine Namibia sponsored equipment to the value of N$405 000 to Athletics Namibia on Friday.
At a press conference held on Friday at the Namibia Sports Commission in Windhoek, Debmarine Namibia donated equipment to Athletics Namibia (AN) valued at N$405 000.
The electronic photo-finishing system will be used in all AN events starting next year.
The equipment comes at just the right time in Debmarine Namibia’s quest to continue with the Bridging the Gap Games, which they have been injecting funding into.
International standards
AN’s patron, Ebson Uanguta, who attended the presser on Friday, said: "Today we are witnessing a historic moment, when Athletics Namibia is receiving, for the first time ever, an electronic photo-finishing system. This will enable Athletics Namibia to host athletic events that are compatible with international standards."
Chief executive officer at Debmarine Namibia, Willy Mertens, said: "The value of sports is significant and cannot be overlooked. We have many decorated sportsmen and women, which is a testimony to the undisputed talent that we have in this country. As a country, we don’t do a lot, but if you just look at the talent that has come out, if we just double the effort, we will probably triple our returns."
