Bitler lauds committed Khomas teams
Khomas Region Netball chairperson Dimitri Bitler has heaped praise on the netball teams that have continued showing up to games.
The Super 10, first division and the second division matches took place the Wanderers Sport Field in Windhoek over the weekend.
“It is always something special that one has to applaud the way the teams have committed themselves towards the game.
It is not easy for the players and teams but the fact that they are still dedicated to showing up and playing fine netball is impressive.
“I can just continue encouraging them to do so in order for the sport to remain alive,” Bitler said.
Icing on the cake
On Friday in the first division, University of Namibia (Unam) beat Namibia University of Science of Technology (NUST) 33-18 in a university derby, while Gomanate trounced Wanderers 55-12.
In the Super 10 division on Saturday, Unam defeated Black Africa 39-24, while the first division saw Unam losing 29-37 to Namibia Correctional Service.
Rehoboth Netball Club also got the better of NUST in the first division with a 25-20 victory.
The second division played host to intriguing encounters as rival teams pushed for positive results.
Afrocat Lions defeated Ministry of Mines and Energy 20-12, while Ministry of Gender beat Black Africa 30-23.
United (A) secured a 31-18 victory over Tura Magic while United (B) beat Tigers 26-25.
“We are still hoping to get sponsors and fund these leagues, given the amount of passion and effort the people put in.
“Netball is a sport that is growing and that is why sponsorship will be the icing on the cake for the success of the sport," Bitler said.
