Just about two weeks remain until Namibia’s senior national football team faces Madagascar at the 2022 Cosafa Cup in South Africa. The Brave Warriors recently acquired the services of their former player Collin Benjamin.

With a new coach and a date with Madagascar looming, the Warriors commenced with camping, and are poised to defy some of the odds in South Africa.

As things stand, the new man in charge has little time to have the players play according to his style, given that Namibia will be in action on 12 July against Madagascar.

However, Benjamin considers getting them back to full fitness to be the most crucial task at hand.

“As a coach, one always wants the players to play according to your style, but that takes time and perfection.

“I am pleased with the attitude the players brought to the training and that is something that can work in our favour. “Yes, one wants them to play according to your style of play, but as things stand I will gladly trade anything to have them fit and running at full throttle,” Benjamin said.

The coach also expressed his delight to see some of the junior players eager to learn. He recently called up a few of the Under-20 players to train with the senior players.

“I called up some of these younger players because I believe that it is important that they start learning.

“Football is not about the age but what you can do with the ball and these players will just develop if they are given the exposure to training,” he said.
