Futsal Namibia founder Andrei Tirtirau expressed gratitude towards everyone who made the Ongos Valley tournament a success.
The competition took place this weekend at the Windhoek Show Grounds, with Swakopmund Futsal Club (SFC) beating Quality FC 7-5 in the final.
SFC received a cheque for N$5 000 for their victory.
“I can say that this tournament was a success due to the interest and the number of teams that registered.
I want to thank the sponsors Ongos Valley for coming through as well.
“We managed to sell out all the spots in two days and that shows the interest is growing in the sport,” Tirtirau said.

Results
The tournament saw 22 teams competing for the top prize in electric matches in the capital.
Galaticos finished third, while Netvendmenzi won the Shield competition.
Ongos Valley came in second place in the Shield Cup, while Alles Zusammen took the third spot.
“This is a cup in between the two leagues that we normally have, which includes the Express Credit Winter League which just ended.
“This gave a chance to new teams and also teams that are in the current league to be able play fast and challenge themselves against other teams,” Tirtirau said.
The founder revealed that they have around 800 players for the summer league, which is set to start at the end of this month.
There will be around 16 premier league teams and 32 teams in the first division, he said.
“We will also have an under-17 ladies and male division as well as a first division for both genders.
“Express Credit has committed to being the sponsor as well and we are also constantly looking for more sponsorship which will help us start an academy.”
