The Namibia Pool and Billiards Federation has embarked on a journey to promote the growth of the sport in the country.
Public Relations Officer of the federation, Charmaine Kotze, believes there is potential for the sport to become one of the most popular fraternities in the country.
Kotze is adamant that the sport is transitioning from being regarded solely as a social activity to being recognised as a leading and productive discipline.
“There is plenty of potential in the sport, and our aim is to ensure that it gains more recognition than it has already achieved.
“We are also delighted by the public’s interest, which has motivated us to continue paving the way for great things in the sport,” Kotze said.
The federation has already established leagues in various towns across the country and is also planning to host a tournament in the coming days.
The tournament is expected to attract numerous pool players from across the country, who will battle it out for bragging rights.
“Pool is such a lovely game, and as a pool player myself, I encourage both young and older people to join us.
“As a woman playing pool, I also urge other women to join the sport, as it not only serves as a social event but is also a recognised sport worldwide,” Kotze noted.
Kotze further encourages those who play the sport or have an interest in it to keep an eye on their social media platforms.
