Namibia boys and girls secure bragging rights over Zim

The Namibia Hockey Union’s friendly international outdoor series for boys and girls against touring Zimbabwe in two age groups (Under 16 and 18) was successfully held at Windhoek High School’s Trustco Davin astro turf from Thursday until Saturday.

Although Zimbabwe had some success – most notably on day 2, when both its under 18 and U16 boys teams narrowly beat their Namibia age mates – it was the host nation that settled the score by winning each of the bronze and cup finals on the last day.

The competitive series was well supported and should serve the development of both neighbouring countries’ age group hockey for the future.

DAY 1 RESULTS

Girls, Namibia U18 beat Namibia U16, 9-0.

Girls, Zimbabwe U18 beat Zimbabwe U16, 3-0.

Boys, Zimbabwe U16 boys and Zimbabwe U18 drew, 1-1.

Boys, Namibia U18 beat Namibia U16, 7-3.

Girls, Namibia U16 and Zimbabwe U16 drew, 0-0.

Boys, Zimbabwe U16 beat Namibia U16, 2-1.

Girls, Zimbabwe U18 and Namibia U18 drew, 2-2.
