Kyle Johnson adds Tsumeb Open to list of wins

Sixteen-year-old Kyle Johnson of Walvis Bay Golf Club put his talent on display when he won the Bank Windhoek Tsumeb Open on Sunday.

Johnson’s gross total of 146 shots was good enough to win by two shots against Elias Mulombwelwa (Windhoek Golf Club, 148), who recently won the Namibian Open title for the first time.

The Tsumeb Open is included as one of the Namibian Amateur Golf Union’s tournaments counting towards its order of merit. A total of 58 players entered to play the two-day event.

The overall nett winner was Jackson Kawaya (Tsumeb, 144), ahead of Lesley Neib (Grootfontein, 146).

Other divisional winners were:

A Division best gross: 1 Walter Heibeb (Tsumeb, 155), 2 Edwin Kutara (Grootfontein, 156).

A Division best nett: 1 Wensley Haseb (Tsumeb, 150), 2 Patrick Shigwele (Tsumeb, 152).

B Division best gross: 1 Thomas Hailonga (Tsumeb, 166).

B Division best nett: 1 A. Ndyenge 151), 2 T. Karsvara.

2 Mervin Nangolo (Windhoek, 167).

C Division best gross: 1 Toady Gurirab (Windhoek, 173), 2 Helmut Ndjendja (Rössmund, 174).

C Division best nett: 1 Chileshe Musukwa (Grootfontein, 147), 2 H. Jordaan (149).

Juniors, best gross: S. Nell (167).

Juniors, best nett: J. van der Merwe (149).



Windhoek Golf Club

The Windhoek Golf Club hosted a divisional individual stableford sponsored by DStv last weekend .

The competition was supported by 44 players.

The abbreviated results for the competition are as follows:

A Division: 1 Damian da Silva (40 points), 2 Bertus Damon (39), 3 Stefanus Reitz (34), 4 Wessel Louw junior (31).

B Division: 1 Ian Wood (39, count-out), 2 Fanie Oosthuizen (39), 3 Monty Rukoro (37, count-out), 4 Paul Grobler (37) 5 Paul Adkins (37).

C Division: 1 Manfred Bledou (37), 2 Justin Mwamba (35, count-out), 3 Bonifatius Paulino (35), 4 Gustav Jung (34).

Ladies division: 1 Evelyn Paulino (37), 2 Ester Emvula (36), 3 Sesilia Nkoshi (35), 4 Lucy Mohale (34), 5 Natasja Louw (32).

One DStv decoder per division was up for grabs.

Nearest to pin prizes were sponsored by the players and were won by Hylton Villet (hole 3), Bertus Damon (hole 9), Wynand Slabbert (hole 13) and Wessel Louw (hole 17),

• This coming weekend Windhoek Golf Club will host the B&A Individual Stableford.
