Kings of the Ring thrills

On Saturday night, the Kings of the Ring boxing event produced thrilling action at the Jan Wilkens Centre in Walvis Bay.

It was a night that saw Shilongo Indongo beat Shimmi Frans to win the King of the Ring title.

Indongo dominated the fight from the onset as he delivered a combination of punches that proved difficult for his opponent to handle.

"It was not an easy fight because my opponent was giving me a fight, but I did well, and I am happy for the victory," Indongo said.

End of the road

In another title fight, Delano Muller proved too strong for his opponent, Delcia Somseb.

The martial arts star, who occasionally enjoys boxing, said he was planning to stop boxing and focus on school and kickboxing for a while.

"It was a great fight for me, and my opponent gave me a couple of shots, but I dominated at the end of the day.

"I want to stop boxing now because I have to focus on school work and my martial arts career.

"There is a possibility that I could go to Germany at the end of the year, and that is why I am making this decision," Muller noted.

Tough round

Another boxer who dominated his title fight over three rounds was Divas Uushona who claimed his title following securing a win against Robert Shimweneni.

Uushona dominated the first two rounds but almost lost the third round after his opponent decided to give him a good fight.

“I had hurt my hand in training and that is why it became hard for me in the third round because I was not able to really punch him hard.

“I am however grateful for the win and hope to become a world champion one day,” Uushona said.

The event was organised by the Namibian Boxing Academy and delivered more than 20 bouts including the three title fights.
