The Central Volleyball Association held try outs for the Khomas Region Under-19 Volleyball Team over the weekend. This team is set to represent the Khomas Region at the Namibia National Youth Games 2024, which will be hosted in the Oshana Region from 11-14 September, this year. The games are organized by the Namibian Sports Commission.

This year’s tryouts attracted 21 athletes, consisting of 11 girls and 10 boys. While this number is fewer than the usual 30-40 athletes—particularly noting the typical turnout of around 25 boys—the organizers were pleased with the quality of talent on display. The smaller group allowed for a more focused selection process, ensuring that the best players were chosen to represent the region.

Coach Aloisius Ishitile shared his thoughts on the players who were selected, "While the number of participants was not very convincing, we were able to select the players we wanted. We have no doubts about their potential; we just need to put in some extra work to prepare the kids for the games" he said.

The final team will be composed of 12 boys and 12 girls. To complete the roster, coaches will scout and train additional players, ensuring that the team is well-prepared for the national competition.

The coaching delegation for the 2024 Khomas Region Under-19 Volleyball Team includes Aloisius Ishitile, Shilumbu, Shaningi, and E. Autanga. This group of experienced coaches brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to the team, offering robust training and strategic insights which are crucial for developing the young athletes' skills and preparing them for the competitive environment of the National Youth Games.
