Tjipee Karuuombe, a talented 23-year-old midfielder from Namibia, is on the verge of making a significant move to European football.

Karuuombe’s career is poised to take an exciting turn as he prepares to join the record 19-time champions of Georgia, FC Dinamo Tbilisi.

He began football at the Kaizen Football Academy (KFA), where he crafted his style of play under the current U-20 national team head coach James Britz before moving to South Africa in 2021.

There, he joined Als Puk Tawana, a third-tier team owned by North-West University and serving as a reserve team for the Premier Soccer League (PSL) giants, Mamelodi Sundowns.

Midway through the 2022/23 season, Karuuombe made the leap to the Czech Republic, signing with FK Loko Praha, a third-tier club.

Unfortunately, his time in Europe was cut short after just one game due to an injury. He then returned to home soil, where he joined Unam’s ‘Clever Boys.’

His return was complimented by consistent performances, which earned him a call-up to the senior national team.

Karuuombe’s international debut came in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers, where he made an impact on his full debut by scoring in a 1-1 draw against Liberia.

He followed this up with a solid performance in a goalless draw against Tunisia, and further appearances against Cameroon and Kenya.

Speaking with Sportwrap, Karuuombe shared his excitement about the move. “I have been here for a week so far and I have already completed my medical tests. Only a few documents are pending before the deal is sealed,” he said.

“Everything is going in the right direction for me, I started training with the rest of the first team and I am adjusting quite well.”

FC Dinamo Tbilisi has a storied history, having produced some of Georgia’s finest football talents, namely legends like Temur Ketsbaia, Shota Arveladze, and more recently, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia.

The club currently sits 7th in the Georgian league standings, and Karuuombe’s addition to the squad could provide the boost they need to climb higher.

Karuuombe now joins the growing list of Namibian footballers making their mark in Europe, namely

Manfred Starke (TSV 1860 Munich), Kamaarija “Perotti “Mbeuserua (SC Hainberg 1980 e.v FC; on loan), Levi Kamuhanga (VFB Sangerhausen), Ryan Nyambe (Derby County), Erastus Kulula (Liria Prizren FC), Romeo Kasume (Liria Prizren FC), Eutuuru Kambato (Liria Prizren FC), Gerald Alders (Ajax Amsterdam).

His move to FC Dinamo Tbilisi brings him closer to competing in European football against some of the continent’s top clubs.
