Gymnasium set to defend Capricorn title
The Windhoek Gymnasium Black Diamonds are set for a competitive battle against A. Shipena Secondary School over the weekend as the Capricorn Group Schools Netball League’s heads to a climax.
The Black Diamonds, who emerged victorious in the Under 19 league last year, have a six-point lead over A. Shipena Secondary School as it stands, with 33 to 27.
Windhoek Gymnasium is also leading the U17 league against Windhoek High School with a three-point difference between them.
Windhoek High School is trailing by five points behind Windhoek Gymnasium in the U15 division at first and second place. Windhoek High School are currently tied in points against Windhoek Afrikaans Private School with 31 points for each.
Windhoek Gymnasium also currently hold the top spot in the U14 league with a three point lead over Pro-Ed Academy.
Pro-Ed Academy and WHS is currently tied in third and fourth place in the U19 division at 25 points each, only one point ahead of Ella du Plessis Secondary School, who took second place in the league last year.
The Capricorn Group Schools Netball League kicked off in May this year and will come to a head this weekend at the Windhoek Gymnasium netball courts.
Matches in the age group U12, U13, U14, U15, U17 and U19 will take place on all four courts, starting Friday from 14:00 until 20:00.
Knockout matches will resume on Saturday from 08:00, with the respective championship finals set out as follows:
11:00, U13 final.
11:45, U14 final.
12:30, U15 final.
13:30, U17 final.
14:30, U19 final.
