Euro 2024 provides the drama
Football
Beautiful goals, late drama and surprises has been the order of the day for the ongoing UEFA European football championship.
Tuesday night was no difference from the flair and drama happening in Germany, as Portugal left it late to beat a resilient Czech Republic team.
The 2016 Euro champions had to dig deep as their 39-year-old captain Cristiano Ronaldo struggled to convert any of the chances he got.
Their fans were taken through the motions as Czech Republic scored the opening goal in the 69 second minute through Lukáš Provod.
Epectations were high from the Portuguese side who were carrying the tag as one of the favourite teams.
It took them 8 minutes to level the score through an own goal by Robin Hranác.
In the final minutes, Portugal had a goal disallowed, before youngster Francisco Conceição snatched a late winner.
In the other match on Tuesday, Turkey defeated Georgia 3-1.
Brave Warriors player Marcel Papama said: “Euro 2024 is a super tournament so far and I think the players are displaying top fitness levels.
“It is too early to tell which team can go all the way, because the bigger teams have not even shown that they want it more.”
