Eichab hopes for better days

Khomas Nampol FC coach Fortune Eichab hopes his team will bounce back from their defeats in a preseason tournament played over the weekend.
The police team squandered a 2-0 lead against Tigers FC on Saturday at the NFA Technical Centre.
Eichab’s men took the lead in the first half, but Tigers FC bounced back to level the scores as the teams played out a 3-3 draw.
“I really have mixed feelings about the results this weekend because we did well in some instances, but other parts of the games were not so good.
“I am happy that we managed to secure third place in the competition, but our aim was to win the tournament, which Tigers FC eventually did.
“The disappointing part about the weekend was the fact that the team threw away a 2-0 lead against Tigers, and I am not impressed,” Eichab said.
The police club achieved a third-place finish in their debut season in the Debmarine Namibia Premiership.
After gaining promotion, the team made a few key signings, such as Brave Warriors’ right winger Absalom Iimbondi from Tigers, which boosted their performance and ambition to become a formidable team in the league.
One of their standout performers was Rewaldo Prins, the 21-year-old winger who finished as the league’s joint top goal-scorer and has since been signed by Marumo Gallants in South Africa’s DStv Premiership on a two-year deal.
Attacking midfielder/winger Ben Namib (24) was also among their players gaining recognition, earning selection for the Brave Warriors and playing in the Cosafa Cup alongside clubmates George Frans and goalkeeper Erasmus Ikeinge.
Eichab, however, hinted that his club is unlikely to win the league this season but is expected to give the other top clubs a run for their money.
“It is obvious that the players and the team will have to improve if they want to challenge for the title.
“I think we will have a good season, but our focus won’t be on winning the title for now,” Eichab said.
