Erongo Netball League thrills
Eleven Arrows clinches double victory on Saturday as the Erongo Netball League continued to produce thrilling results and action from talented players over the weekend.
Spectators witnessed four exciting Erongo netball league matches at the Kuisebmond Stadium in Walvis Bay on Saturday afternoon.
Eleven Arrows clinched a double victory by defeating Sorento Bux with an impressive 50-11 as well as Phoenix 1 by 50-3. Eleven Arrow’s team captain, Evelyn Muinjongue, said their game against Sorento Bux was an easy one. “I think we had an advantage because all of the intimidating players I know from Sorento Bux did not pitch today. We were targeting a 60 but we are also content with the 50 points we scored.”
Other Matches
Anchors established an 11-8 lead in the first quarter of play against Kuiseb United. Anchors continued with their well-coordinated attacks and pocketed the second quarter with 16-14. In the third quarter of play, Kuiseb United came out with well-orchestrated attacks and clinched the quarter with 25-22. In the final quarter, both teams gave it their all.
Kuiseb United however showed more heart and clinched the match 32-30.
Kuiseb United team captain Excelda Ganases said the team thought that Anchors would win the game. “We thought that they would hammer us, but fortunately we ended up victorious.”
Anchors defeated Maxilili in their second game of the day with an impressive 57-29 at the end of the full game. According to Anchor's team captain Martha Naitwe, the game was competitive in the first and second quarters. “I was so happy with the girls as they pushed through, even though it was our second game of the day,” she said, adding that their next game will be against Sorento Bux.
