Doman, Suren shine in gruelling 10-12 lap circuit

The second series of the 2025 Nedbank Windhoek Pedal Power race, Copper Kettle, commenced on Sunday at 06:30, with participants tackling a challenging 6.7 km circuit per lap across various categories.

In the women's team general classification, Michelle Doman of Food Lovers Market clinched first place with an impressive time of 01:46:00 over 10 laps.

In the men’s category, Roger Suren from Team MBM crossed the finish line first, completing 12 laps in 01:50:50.

In the women's division, Cymot Racing Team leads with 05:23:19, followed by Food Lovers Market Ladies (05:23:21) and Hollard Ladies (05:20:38), while in the men’s division, Active Performance Cycling Academy tops with 05:43:52.6, ahead of Cymot Racing Team (05:36:17.3) and Hollard Ambassadors (05:43:52.8).

However, the day was not without its mishaps.

The event saw a few unfortunate crashes, including one cyclist who broke his collarbone and required immediate medical attention. According to a preliminary report, the individual was rushed to hospital for further treatment.

When Sport Wrap approached Nedbank spokesperson Ndatala Angula for comment, he confirmed that a few crashes occurred during the race. However, he noted that they were yet to receive a full report detailing the number of cyclists injured, the condition of the bikes involved, and whether the cyclist taken to the hospital had undergone surgery.
