Deon Hotto Foundation to host charity sports tournament
The Deon Hotto Charity Cup will see 16 soccer and 10 netball teams compete in two sports codes, namely soccer and netball, at the Mondesa Stadium in Swakopmund from 23 to 25 June.
According to one of the event organisers, Carl Pesat, the occasion aims to showcase talent and sportsmanship and raise funds to support various charitable initiatives.
"We are hosting the Deon Hotto Foundation because we believe in using the power of sports (football and netball) to make a positive impact in our communities".
Pesat added: "Hosting an event of this magnitude involves various elements, and costs can vary depending on several factors such as venue, logistics, and programme design. However, thanks to the generous support of our sponsors, strategic partners, and passionate volunteers, we have been able to manage the expenses efficiently, allowing us to maximise the funds raised for our charitable endeavours. Our goal is to ensure that the majority of the proceeds go directly towards supporting the causes we champion."
A community united
Pesat said the event is also aimed at uniting "Swakopmunders'' and the region as a whole.
"This is an opportunity to unite and make a difference while enjoying the excitement of the beautiful game. By making a meaningful impact, the aim is also to be an annual event in our region".
Prizes up for grabs
The registration fee for soccer teams is set at N$800 and N$600 for netball teams. The winning soccer team will walk away with N$8 000 including a Deon Hotto kit. The runner-up will pocket N$5 000 including a Deon Hotto kit. Third place winners will scoop N$3 000 including a Deon Hotto kit. The winning netball team will walk away with N$5 000 and N$3 000 for the runner-up. The closing date for registrations is 20 June.
Entertainment for all
Spectators can expect a fantastic experience at the Deon Hotto Foundation Invitational Charity Cup. "We've planned an array of entertainment options to ensure everyone has a memorable time. We intend to have half-time games for spectators – so prizes and goodies can be won by anyone in the crowd. Alongside the thrilling football and netball matches, there will be live DJ performances from 'the Rhythm', engaging activities for families, and delicious food options that cater to various tastes and preferences," Pesat said.
