The last remaining contenders in the PstBet NFA Cup are set for battle in Mariental this coming weekend.

Four teams each from the Debmarine Namibia Premiership (men) and FNB Women’s Super League will face off in what is expected to be a titanic weekend at the Mariental Sports Stadium.

The stakes are high and each of the coaches will be hoping to reach the final of the prestigious and lucrative tournament. The return of their players from national duty will be a boost in confidence, following the Brave Warriors

The battle lines have been drawn, with Eeshoke Chula Chula coming up against Young Brazilians in the first men’s semifinal on Saturday.

Chula Chula coach John Sikerete said his team will be fired up to deliver in Mariental.

“We know it is not going to be easy because a team that has come so far will not just be a walk-over.

“We are however a team that plays with passion and we know that we have to give it all to make sure that our supporters remains happy,” Sikerete said.

The match between Eeshoke Chula Chula and Young Brazilians (kick-off at 16:00) pits opponents from Oshakati and Karasburg, respectively.

It will be preceded by the eliminator between Ongos Ladies and NUST Babes at 14:00. Ongos will enter the match as favourites given the way they have dominated the FNB Women’s Super League.

“We are not going to take this match lightly, because we know it is a cup tie and everyone wants to set foot in the final,” Ongos FC coach Shama Gure noted.

Sunday’s two matches are not to be missed either.

The first fixture of the day will see Khomas Nampol Ladies battling against Beauties FC at 13:00.

This will be followed by the two Debmarine Namibia Premiership powerhouses at 15:00.

African Stars and Khomas Nampol FC will do everything in their power as they battle for a place in the final.

The coaches of the two teams, Ronnie Kanalelo of African Stars and his counterpart Fortune Eichab, have already signalled their determination to win the competition.

Setback for Stars

African Stars were informed by FIFA yesterday that they are banned from registering new players locally or internationally for three consecutive transfer windows, after failing to pay their former Ghanaian striker Ernest Adiwoh's outstanding N$180 000 within the 45 days given by FIFA for breaching his contract.

In July 2023, Adiwoh signed a three-year contract with the reigning NPL champions from Ezma Kotoko FC, but his visa and work permit expired in December, so he returned to Ghana on December 27th. He is still owed remuneration, with interest.
