Brave Warriors coach Collin Benjamin has lauded his side for beating Lesotho 2-1 in the Cosafa Cup tournament in Gqeberha yesterday.

Benjamin said the players gave it their all and he was happy to have gained three crucial points in group C.

“I am happy with the result in a match we had to win, given how Angola played against Seychelles.

“The players stood the test when we had to defend and stay compact and also when they were needed to attack.

“We still have Seychelles to play next, but I can say I am happy with the three points today,” Benjamin said.

Ivan Kamberipa opened the scoring for Namibia in the 38th minute following an assist from Bethuel Muzeu.

Lesotho bounced back in the second half when Neo Mokhachane equalized for his team.

Namibia however went on the offensive again, which resulted in a goal by striker Bethuel Muzeu.

The results put Brave Warriors level on points with group leaders Angola after the two matches each have played so far. Angola is currently placed on top of group C on goal difference, thanks to yesterday’s come-from-behind 3-2 win against Seychelles.

Angola and the Brave Warriors each started yesterday level on one point each, following their 0-0 head-to-head result, as well as Lesotho and Seychelles, who drew 1-1 for the shared log points.

Lesotho and Seychelles still have a slight chance of qualifying, provided they win their final matches of group C.

The points however currently favours the Angolans and Namibia to be the teams that could potentially qualify to the semi-final.

Namibia will play Seychelles in their last match of group C (15:00 on Wednesday) in Wolfson Stadium, at the same time when Angola will battle Lesotho at Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium.

A win for Namibia and a draw or loss for Angola in the final group matches will guarantee Namibia passage through to the semi-finals.

A draw for Namibia and a win for Angola will also potentially send Namibia through to the semis as best runners-up, depending what happens in the other groups.

If Namibia and Angola both lose in their final group matches, all teams will be level on four points each and the group winners could be decided by goal difference.
