Parents warned against school placement scams
NEWS IN SHORT
The City of Windhoek has issued a warning to parents and guardians seeking school placements for their children, cautioning that desperate times should not lead to desperate measures. The municipality cautioned against paying middlemen or third parties as a way of getting placement in schools. "Some individuals, including both imposters and actual teachers, may falsely promise school placements for your children, particularly in lower grades. Do not allow scammers to take advantage of you."
The City advised parents and guardians to pay fees only to their school of interest and to always request a receipt. Additionally, they emphasised the importance of applying for school placements as early as possible and verifying information directly with the school.
Furthermore, the City said suspicious activities should be reported to the police immediately.
