Operators suspend unregistered SIM cards
TN Mobile has confirmed disconnecting mobile phone clients whose SIM cards were not registered by 31 March government deadline. “We unfortunately have to suspend them until they come register tomorrow to reconnect them,” said Dr Stanley Shanapinda, CEO of Telecom Namibia, which operates TN Mobile. The deadline was extended by three months after many Namibians failed to have their SIM cards registered by the original deadline of 21 December. Market leader MTC has also disconnected unregistered SIM cards, according to affected clients, but no official comment could be obtained from the company.
