#JustIn: Green money available
More than N$200 000 has been made available to seven companies trying to obtain financing through the Green Climate Fund (GCF).
This according to an announcement from the Environmental Investment Fund of Namibia (EIF).
The EIF is taking the lead with access to financing from the United Nations GCF and has already nominated Bank Windhoek, AgriBank, the Development Bank of Namibia and the Ministry of Environment, Forestry and Tourism as national nominating authority to distribute the money locally.
However, obstacles such as technical capacity hinder the ability to meet all GCF requirements, according to the EIF. In light of this, a project team was assembled and a workshop was held in Windhoek at the end of March.
With the funding, the companies involved must complete their concept and submit applications to encourage further use of the GCF money.
