Civil society unites
A group of Namibian civil society organisations have expressed hope that the money allocated in the national budget will uplift communities and address pressing societal issues.
In a statement, the group said the allocated funds should especially bolster early childhood education to provide equitable opportunities for all children and substantial funding for housing and sanitation, particularly in informal settlements where living conditions are dire.
Healthcare is another critical area to focus on, and the group also strongly called on government to put in place proactive measures to tackle youth unemployment.
The organisations also called for enhanced efforts to combat corruption, protect citizens' rights and promote transparency and accountability in governance. Measures to support the informal economy and address gender-based violence were also underscored.
