City bags A-grade AA compliance rating
NEWS IN SHORT
Windhoek mayor Queen Kamati this week announced that the City has obtained an A-grade employment equity compliance rating from the Employment Equity Commission for its affirmative action programme for the 2023/2024 review period.
The municipality scored 95.56%, demonstrating its commitment to creating a fair and inclusive workplace that addresses historical inequalities, Kamati said.
The equity commission's assessment praised the council's overall progress but noted the need for further improvement in the employment of persons with disabilities.
In response, the council's human capital department said it is developing targeted strategies to enhance the participation of people with disabilities in the workforce.
"This A-Grade rating underscores the municipal council's dedication to diversity and inclusion, ensuring that under-represented groups, including women, racial minorities and people with disabilities, are given equitable opportunities," Kamati said.
