Die versengende droogte in die Suide eis nie net sy sy tol op vee nie, maar ook op wilde diere met sommige boere en lodge-eienaars wat genoodsaak is om wild te voer. Berigte van wildkarkasse, veral van springboklammers, word aangemeld. Blaarvreters soos kameelperde staan nog 'n kans op oorlewing, maar veral grasvreters se kondisie is in 'n benarde toestand. Verskeie lodges het bevestig dat hulle wild teen 'n enorme koste moet voer en weens die tekort aan voer word die hoeveelheid aankope by sommige handelshuise beperk.
