What are your impressions of the upcoming elections so far? Are you comfortable with the way the Electoral Commission of Namibia (ECN) is carrying out the electoral activities?
Simon Hamunyela

I feel like the upcoming elections in Namibia are marked by a mix of continuity and potential change, with Swapo's dominance being tested amid rising public expectations for accountability and governance.

Overall, the ECN appears to be taking significant steps to ensure that the upcoming elections are well-organised and inclusive. The focus on voter education is that the use of technology and registration is particularly encouraging. However, the success of these initiatives will ultimately depend on the active participation of the citizens and their engagement with the electoral process.

Moses Sartiel Nakafingo

My impression of the upcoming elections is that they reflect a changing political landscape, with the rise of the Independent Patriots for Change (IPC) signalling growing dissatisfaction with Swapo. This challenge to the ruling party shows that voters are seeking change and improvements in governance, particularly around issues like accountability and service delivery.

As for the ECN, they appear to be making efforts to ensure a fair and transparent process, though there is always room for improvement in areas like voter education and accessibility. The rise of the IPC is a reminder that even the ruling party must stay responsive to the electorate’s concerns, and the ECN’s handling of the elections will be key to maintaining public trust.

Shikongo Mahnaemi Nangombe

I feel like there is too much pressure from all political parties. This is because of too many rallies going around. All we need is an exemplary leader who has the nation at heart, not words without action.

I don't have anything to share about ECN.

Fisabo Lusungu Mapalo

My impressions are that the political party that will win should address areas such as food security, youth unemployment and training in relevant key economic endeavours, supporting local agricultural production, encouraging the youth to be active in political matters by attending youth engagements and/or council meetings so that their voices can be heard and providing affordable housing and ensuring energy security for industrial and residential consumption.

I'm comfortable because I have not seen any infringement from ECN to hinder the electoral process.

Enid Deku

My impressions so far lean toward cautious optimism, recognising the efforts made but also acknowledging the need for vigilance and responsive actions to public concerns. The ECN appears to be taking significant steps to facilitate a credible electoral process, but there is room for strengthening trust, improving voter education, and ensuring transparency.
