Schools to close early for elections

The education ministry has announced that 27 November, the day Namibians head to the polls, will be a school holiday.
The last day of school for the year will, therefore, be Friday, 22 November, while teachers, school staff and boarding staff will be at their posts until 6 December. Reports must also be provided to learners by this date, the ministry said.
Hostels will be closed on 27 November, it added.
In a statement, the ministry said schools must manage the eight school days that are deducted from the calendar in collaboration with their school communities, under the supervision of education inspectors.
