IPC says ‘British letter’ is fake news
News in short
Independent Patriots for Change (IPC) president Panduleni Itula has asked the Namibian Police to investigate the origins of a letter that has been circulating, purported to come from British parliamentarian Sarah Champion of the Labour Party to foreign secretary David Cameron, asking for support for IPC. The party’s vice-president Trevino Forbes dismissed the letter's allegation that he met with British envoys, together with the party's national chairperson Brian Black, to prop up support for IPC ahead of the Namibian elections in November. Itula dismissed the letter and said he has forwarded it to Inspector-General Joseph Shikongo. IPC leaders accused the ruling party Swapo of ‘running scared’ and fabricating the letter to spread propaganda.
