Shikongo promotes, transfers senior officers
Changes effective 1 September
The Hardap Region will bid farewell to Deputy Commissioner Eric Petrus Clay, while Deputy Commissioner Moses Simaho makes a move from Omusati to Khomas.
Namibian Police Inspector-General Joseph Shikongo last Friday promoted and transferred officers holding top ranks within the force, effective 1 September.
He made the announcement over the weekend at the closing of a week-long senior command conference held at Ongwediva. He said the officers’ transfers, appointments and promotions aim to fill positions left vacant as a result of service terminations.
Commissioner Johanna Ngondo, the regional commander of the Kavango East Region, was moved to the Inspector-General's Office in Windhoek in an advisory capacity. Commissioner Andreas Haingura was transferred from Omaheke and will now take over as the new regional commander for Kavango East. Meanwhile, Commissioner Heinrich Tjiveze was transferred from Otjozondjupa to Omaheke as regional commander.
Shikongo also transferred and appointed Deputy Commissioner Phillip Hidengwa from Kunene, where he served as the head of the crime investigations division, to regional commander in Otjozondjupa, taking over from Tjiveze.

Furthermore, Deputy Commissioner Moses Simaho from the Omusati crime investigations division has been transferred to the criminal investigations directorate at the national headquarters, and appointed as staff officer in that directorate.
Shikongo also announced that Deputy Commissioner Zachariah Amakali of the Ohangwena crime investigations coordination division was transferred to Omusati in the same position.
Successful implementation
According to the police chief, the force has successfully implemented 14 of 16 resolutions passed at the last senior command conference. The two resolutions not fully implemented involve issues related to policy amendments that require a series of legal processes to be finalised, he said.
He urged the promoted officers to continue serving the public to the best of their abilities.
