Police boost administrative skills in Kavango West
Police in the Kavango West Region began an intensive administrative skills training course on Monday, aimed at equipping officers and civilians within the force with the skills needed to improve service delivery.
The five-day course will see 28 participants - five police officers and 23 civilian members - from various regions undergo comprehensive training in modern administrative techniques.
The workshop will cover a broad range of topics essential to effective administration, including management functions, records and report management, office services and financial management.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Kavango West regional commander, Commissioner Julia Sakuwa-Neo, emphasised the importance of continuous skill-building within the force to ensure optimal public service. “Training is a cornerstone of any organisation, and the Namibian Police recognises the need to continually empower our members with relevant skills and knowledge. This training is a vital step in equipping our officers and civilian personnel with the tools they need to deliver quality administrative services to the public.”
She added: “We are committed to fulfilling our organisational vision of providing excellent policing for a safer Namibia. This goal can only be achieved if our members are well-prepared to handle the evolving demands of modern administration. This workshop will challenge participants to think critically, engage in meaningful discussions, and step outside their comfort zones”.
The course is also seen as an opportunity for officers and civilian staff to network, exchange ideas and develop solutions that address real-world challenges.
“This initiative reflects the Namibian Police’s commitment to excellence and service. May this course serve as a stepping stone to building a stronger and more capable administrative body within the force,” Sakuwa-Neo said.
She further commended the facilitators and expressed her confidence that the workshop would achieve its intended objectives.
“Through this training, we nurture an environment where ideas are valued, diversity is celebrated and growth is constant. I urge all participants to demonstrate discipline and commitment as they embark on this journey. It is an opportunity to redefine your approach to administration and bring renewed effectiveness to the work we do.”
