Missing Walvis Bay girl found
A young girl that went missing in the dunes on the outskirts of Walvis Bay on Saturday, has been found.
The police and volunteers were frantically searching for the girl.
Initial reports indicate that members of the Community Crime Prevention Unit (CCPU), Ramos Realtors and the Namibian Marshall Rangers in collaboration with the police found the girl wandering in the dunes.
“She appears to be fine. We will have more information in due course,” a member of the CCPU involved in assisting with the search party said.
The commander for community affairs for the Erongo region, commander Ileni Shapumba, confirmed that the police received a report on Sunday of two minor girls aged 8 and 10 that went missing from a home in Kuisebmond on 26 August 2023.
“The 10-year-old one was allegedly found in the dunes behind their Walvis Bay airport dressed in clothes that the missing girl was wearing. We have been searching since yesterday and had to pause the search late last night. This morning we combined resources with the community to search for the child.”
Earlier today, the CCPU appealed to persons with quad bikes and 4x4 vehicles to help with the search. "We need to find this girl, time is not on our side.”
