St. Boniface Parish marks 100 year celebration
A jubilant St. Boniface Parish community celebrated 100 years of faith and the blessing of a newly built church in Pionierspark on Saturday.
The historic event was led by Archbishop Liborius Ndumbukuti Nashenda, OMI, who presided over the Holy Mass, joined by a host of priests and a congregation overflowing with joy and reverence.
Dignitaries, including Prime Minister Saara Kuugongelwa-Amadhila, Deputy Prime Minister John Mutorwa and Chief Justice Peter Shivute graced the occasion.
Other notable attendees included ombudsman Basilius Dyakugha and finance minister Ipumbu Shiimi.
“We are not mere spectators in the Church,” the Archbishop declared during his homily.
"Like St. Boniface and St. Andrew, we are called to use our unique gifts to build our community and proclaim the 'good news'. Together, we walk hand in hand to grow in faith, united in Christ’s love," he said.
The new church building, a symbol of the parish’s enduring faith, was the culmination of years of planning and dedication. Father Timothy, the parish priest, expressed heartfelt gratitude to all who contributed to the project, from the architects and construction teams to the parishioners who gave generously of their time and resources.
