Young cattle judges get to grips with Brahmans

The David Krause Youth Cattle Judging competition took place at the Windhoek Showgrounds last Monday, with students from northern, central and southern Namibia taking part. The learners were required to judge Brahman cattle and arrange them according to the best-looking cattle and explain to the judges why they made the selection. Before the judging process the learners had to write a theoretical test. According to Jaco Labuschagne, the general manager of Feedmaster, he drew inspiration from a competition in Australia in 2018 and decided to start something similar here. The competition started in 2019. The 2021 winner is Liandri Kruger from Windhoek Gymnasium. PHOTO JEANETTE DIERGAARDT
