Kambwa Trading CC and Build It Omuthiya collaborated with Support Ulm e.V. and the Ohorongo Otavi Community Trust (OOCT) to donate textbooks and teacher’s guides to Eloolo Combined School and Onakaale Combined School.

Each school received a total of 95 Grade 4 textbooks and teacher’s guides with a total value of N$13 000.

Eloolo Combined School covers pre-school to Grade 11 and currently hosts 801 pupils, whereas Onakaale Combined School covers grades three to nine and hosts 412 pupils.

“The need for study material and books is huge,” Eloolo acting principal Emilian Shaanika said.

“We are very grateful for the collaboration between private sector and the ministry of education to assist us with these challenges,” she said.

The donation is the result of a commitment made by Support Ulm e.V. and the Ohorongo Otavi Community Trust to the education ministry to support identified schools with books and guides. The donation was part of a bigger initiative to distribute more than 1 750 books during March and April, with a total combined value of N$ 243 000.

Both Kambwa Trading CC and Build It Omuthiya are loyal Ohorongo Cement customers and have each selected different schools as beneficiaries of the donations, as per a directive received from the ministry.

Make us proud

“The need is great and the pupils are many. We cannot expect that government alone carry the full weight of the education responsibilities of our nation. You must study hard using these study aids and make us proud with your results,” David Sheehama David from Kambwa Trading said.

“A big thank you goes out to Herman Nekomba from Build It Omuthiya for making this donation possible. Without assistance, it is really tough to cover all the needs and expenses to ensure the pupils gets the best support and training possible,” said Onakaale principal Kondjeni Nekomba said.
