Windhoek welcomes 31 babies on Xmas
Thirty-one babies were born at state hospitals in Windhoek on Christmas Day.
Cathrine Bonaya, a registered nurse at the Windhoek Central Hospital, told Nampa on Monday that seven boys and four girls were born there on 25 Deember.
The first baby was born at around 01:24 to Ester Indongo.
The 28-year-old, first-time mother gave birth to a healthy baby girl via caesarean section administered by Glennson Haihambo, the doctor who was on duty that night. Indongo said she was excited and joyful that the nurses and the doctors helped her bring her baby into the world early on Christmas morning.
The Katutura State Hospital welcomed 20 babies into the world through natural birth on Sunday. They are eight girls and 12 boys.
Kariu Adam, the mother of the first baby born on Christmas Day at that hospital, was delighted to have given birth to a healthy baby girl on this celebrated day.
“I feel good and blessed that I gave birth to a healthy and strong baby girl on this wonderful day; the day we celebrate the birth of our Lord Jesus Christ,” she told Nampa.
Adelicia Bezuidenhout gave birth to the last baby of the day at the Windhoek Central Hospital at around 23:40 while at the Katutura State Hospital, Ochir Nangula gave birth at 23:59.
