Whopper find for Trustco
A diamond of 476 carats was discovered at Meya Mining in the Kono District in Sierra Leone, in which Trustco Group Holdings has an interest of 51%. “An initial assessment indicates that this find is the 29th largest diamond ever discovered,” Trustco said in a statement on the Namibian Stock Exchange (NSX) on Friday. It added, however, that “any value indication of the diamond is pure speculation at this stage as the diamond has not yet been examined and assessed by the necessary experts”. Meya intends selling the diamond through an international auction. According to the statement, “two other special diamonds of 19.70 carats and 27.93 carats” were also discovered in the Kono District in which Meya holds a four-year exclusive diamond exploration license. Trustco, which is also listed on the overall index of the NSX, closed at N$4.76 a share on Friday, up N$1.81 or about 61% from the beginning of 2017.
