Welwitschias to face home grown star
The Windhoek Draught Welwitschias will come up against a fellow Namibian when they take on the Leopards tomorrow in a Currie Cup fixture at the Hage Geingob Stadium.
Having lost their first match of the knockout phase of the tournament against SWD Eagles 54-23 in George, South Africa, the Welwitschias will play their first home match at 15:00.
Adding spice to the match is the fact that the home team will face their country man, Johan Deysel who is set to start as inside centre for the Leopards.
Deysel played for Namibia at last year’s Rugby World Cup and has been a national team player since 2013.
His tussle with the Welwitschias’ backline will be interesting to watch.
The Welwitschias are continuing their participation in the Currie Cup as they now compete against the five teams that finished in the bottom half of the group games. Their group is referred to as the First Division while the top nine teams are competing in the Cup Premier Division. The other teams in the First Division are the Griffons, Valke and the Border Bulldogs.
