Weekend recap

It’s a new music season for Namibia as artists have started dropping their holiday albums.
In case you are about to update your music library, some of the artists who launched their music last weekend include Taylor Jaye and Chin Chilla’s collaborative EP Rise of Jaye Walker, DJ Siya’s Kabunya and media personality Anne Hambuda’s debut poetry EP, Warm In The Dark.

Rise of Jaye Walker
Last Saturday, Taylor Jaye and Chin Chilla launched The Rise of Jaye Walker EP at Utopia Boutique Hotel in Eros at an exclusive cocktail function.
On the collaboration, Jaye said she was amped to drop the body of work with Chin Chilla, affectionately known as Papa Fines. “The EP is basically dance music for KeDecember and a bonus pinch of Afrobeats. It is out on all digital platforms. Enjoy on our behalf,” she said.

Warm In The Dark
After months of teasing this EP, poet and media personality Anne Hambuda has finally shared her debut with the world.
She launched the seven-track EP last Saturday in the capital city.
“Warm In The Dark is a project that has been a long time coming for me. It is a compilation of poetry and music that I have been working on for several years and I am so excited to see what it has become.
“It is the story of finding healing through music, of questioning yourself, of digging beneath the surface and coming out the other side a survivor. It is my way of healing,” Hambuda said.

New music
Meanwhile, to start this week on a high note, top Namibian musicians like TopCheri, Jericho and Manxebe have blessed us with new albums today.
“There is no song you would skip on this album. Get your original copy at Antonio’s Art,” veteran musician Jericho said of The Recovery.
TopCheri and Manxebe’s respective albums, Tithe and The Rebirth of Kwaito, are available as physical copies as well as on digital platforms.
“The album is out now! I am doing deliveries or you can check it out on iTunes and all your music plugs,” ‘Hangover’ hitmaker TopCheri said.
